CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE CLOSURE: UPDATES, RESOURCES, AND CONTEXT

Sunday Only: Tom Briggs' Adaptation Of "All About Eve" For Stage

Bette Davis & Anne Baxter in "All About Eve" (DVD)

Theatre director and actor Tom Briggs fell in love with the 1950 film All About Eve when he was in high school. While the award-winning film has been made into a musical, it's never been made into a play. For all these years, Briggs has wanted to correct this oversight-and now he has.

Briggs' theatrical adaptation of the show is onstage this weekend in a staged reading, featuring top-notch local actors including Katherine Vernon, Alissa Fetherolf, Lee Lowrimore, Alex Wharff, and more.

A "staged reading" is more than just a script reading-it's a rehearsed presentation that includes lights and sound and some blocking, just a little less than a full production.  Showtime for Briggs' All About Eve is 8:00 pm on Sunday, May 22 at Theatre Now (corner of 10th & Dock Streets).  The theatre opens at 7:30.  Tickets, at just $10, only available at the door.
