Historic Wilmington Foundation
Happy Birthday to the Historic Wilmington Foundation!

May is National Preservation Month-and this year is a particularly special May for the Historic Wilmington Foundation (HWF).  This year is HWF's 50th Anniversary, so the organization has been celebrating all year. This month, the celebrations are in high gear.

Pat Marriott spoke with George Edwards, the Executive Director of HWF; listen to the interview above.  Activities on Saturday:

Saturday May 7th:  At Hannah Block Historic USO (2nd & Orange Streets), from 10:00am-2:00pm, art is on display from the Cape Fear Camera Club and local high school students, plus re-purposed salvaged doors by elementary school students.  Maps are available for Self-Guided Walking Tours, plus a Hunt for History game.  Free tickets for Hands-On Activities at the Children's Museum of Wilmington(right across the street) are also available at the USO.

Also on Saturday, there's the Landmark House Tour from 10:00am-2:00pm, with the option to add a luncheon to the experience.

On Saturday evening from 6:00pm-8:00pm, New Elements Gallery on Princess Street hosts a Plein Air Reception and Art Auction.

More activities are happening throughout the month, including preservation workshops, preservation awards, and on May 26th, the Shrimparoo.  See the entire list of eventshere.
