Around Town’s Rhonda Bellamy chats with Nancy King, Artist Director of Opera Wilmington about their upcoming performance of La Bohème.
Giacomo Puccini’s masterpiece of love and loss, La Bohème is an opera in four acts set in 19th-century Paris, following the turmoil of revolution and war. This passionate and unforgettable tale of young, lively artists searching for meaning and longing for love against impossible odds has become the world’s most popular opera. Opera Wilmington’s La Bohème will feature Jonathan Kaufman, tenor, as zealous poet Rodolfo, Jemeesa Yarborough as charming, ill-fated Mimì, soprano Mary Claire Curran as Musetta, and baritone William Lee Bryan as Marcello. Drawing upon the rich resources of local talent, Opera Wilmington is dedicated to providing live operatic performance, and to cultivating a new generation of opera lovers through educational outreach programs.
