The clock is ticking for almost a dozen health care organizations, who have expressed interest in a possible merger with - or purchase of - New Hanover Regional Medical Center. They have until March 16 to get their proposals in.
The Partnership Advisory Group, a team assembled to explore the future of NHRMC, met Thursday evening for lessons in finance.
PAG members listened to a presentation from Ponder and Company, a healthcare finance and strategic advisory firm.
“Ponder is a group that we've brought in to help us do the in-depth financial analysis of our hospital and they will also help us with the financial analysis of any potential respondents to the RFP.”
That's PAG Chair Spence Broadhurst. He says he wouldn't be surprised if more than a dozen proposals were received by March 16th, with some organizations submitting more than one.
“I'm pretty sure that's going to happen. I think if the potential respondents are paying attention, if they're listening to our meetings, if they're following us on our website, and they're following the deliberations, they can see the interest of the advisory group and the things that we're focusing on. So with that, I think that's going to put them in a position to provide more than one response.”
A public hearing on the future of the medical center is expected in mid-April. Vince Winkel, WHQR News.
