Two notable musical events are happening in Wilmington this weekend: Friday at 7:00, the Cape Fear Jazz Society holds its 20th Anniversary Gala at Brooklyn Arts Center; on Saturday at 7:30, the new Wilmington Music Festival presents its premiere concert at Thalian Hall.

That's 2 musical galas in one weekend. The Jazz Anniversary Gala presents the 18-piece Brunswick Big Band, refreshments, and will honor the founders and key players in the history of the organization. The Wilmington Music Fest Gala features 10 musicians-violinists, pianists, vocalists-bringing classical, operatic, and Broadway music to the stage. Tickets are available for both events at the door.

Listen above to Primus Robinson, President of the Cape Fear Jazz Society, and "MVP" Louis St. Peter talk about Jazz + founders of the Wilmington Music Festival, Soprano Nikoleta Rallis and pianist Aza Sydykov.
