CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE CLOSURE: UPDATES, RESOURCES, AND CONTEXT

CoastLine: Sea Level Rise Will Eventually Overtake NC Barrier Islands

This edition first aired February 21, 2019.

Coastal communities on barrier islands will not exist as they are in 30 to 150 years from now.

That’s according to Dylan McNamara, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography at the University of North Carolina Wilmington

A four-year grant from the National Science Foundation of $1.5 million dollars is facilitating the work of McNamara, geologists, political scientists, and others as they study how these communities will make the transition – and what they can do to help.

Rachel hosts and produces CoastLine, an award-winning hourlong conversation featuring artists, humanitarians, scholars, and innovators in North Carolina.
