Robert Waxman
Board MemberRobert Waxman has had a longtime interest in media and Judaica. Born and raised in Akron, Ohio he moved to NYC and received his BA from Columbia University, School of General Studies and BHL from the Jewish Theological Seminary, MA from New York University and Rabbinic Ordination from the Academy for Jewish Religion. At NYU he studied with Prof. Neil Postman, a student of the master Marshall McLuhan.
Decades ago, Bob created several "slide shows" on Jewish themes and was involved in a radio station at Camp Ramah (KBH) where he worked. He recently retired as rabbi of Bnai Israel Synagogue after 34 years. In addition to his work at Bnai Israel, Bob has served on the NHC Human Relations Commission, Ministerial RoundTable. Bob enjoys tennis, guitar and being part of Habitat for Humanity of the Lower Cape Fear. Bob and his wife, Prof. Emerita Barbara Waxman, (UNCW, Department of English), have been members of WHQR from the organizational days.
