CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Updates, resources, and context

Atrium, Duke, Novant Top Choices For Partnership With NHRMC

Vince Winkel

At its Thursday meeting, the Partnership Advisory Group, charged with recommending a future for New Hanover Regional Medical Center, narrowed its focus from the six submitted proposals to three it believes are worth further consideration.

Thursday night the Partnership Advisory Group unanimously voted to recommend focusing on proposals submitted by Atrium Health, Duke Health, and Novant Health.  All three are not-for-profit health systems based in North Carolina.

The recommendation will go to the NHRMC Board of Trustees at a special meeting May 11 and the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners at its regularly-scheduled meeting on May 18.

Six organizations had responded by the March 16 deadline, outlining their visions for the future of the county-owned health system.

The vote to focus on three organizations came after the PAG measured the submitted proposals against the strategic goals and objectives outlined by the hospital.

The three finalists are offering between $1.4 and $2.17 billion dollars for some form of long-term lease or partnership agreement.
