Christopher Ward beat opponents Mark Judson and Robert Colon.

Democrat Christopher Ward will challenge incumbent Republican David Rouzer for North Carolina’s 7th Congressional District in November. Ward won the 3-way Democratic primary in the Tuesday, Mar. 3 election.

Ward walked away with 46% of the vote in Tuesday’s race. That means Mark Judson, who achieved 36%, and Robert Colon with 17%, are officially out of the contest.

Ward, a Columbus County native, considers himself a moderate Democrat. His top issues include healthcare and job growth. He wants to see wages increased for North Carolinians, doesn’t want to raise taxes, and says the USS Kitty Hawk should rest besides the USS North Carolina as a war memorial.

Ward’s opponent in the November 2020 race will be David Rouzer, who’s served as the 7th Congressional District incumbent since 2015. Rouzer ran uncontested in this year’s Republican primary race.
