Many of this year’s New Hanover County primary candidates are gathering Wednesday night to express their opinions on local issues before voters head to the polls.
WHQR’s Michelle Bliss reports that one-stop voting begins next week.
Both county commissioner and board of education candidates will be included in the forum.
There are ten candidates for commissioner including two incumbents, Democrat Jonathan Barfield and Republican Jason Thompson.
For the board of education, Republican Incumbent Jeanette Nichols and Democratic Incumbent Elizabeth Redenbaugh are among the nine candidates.
The League of Women Voters of the Lower Cape Fear is hosting the event, along with WECT and UNCW. WECT’s Jon Evans will moderate the forum.
One-stop voting centers open next week, three weeks before the May 8th primary.
Wednesday night’s event begins at 6 in McNeill Hall at UNCW.
