Wilmington Rolls Out Annexation Plan
By Catherine M. Welch
Wilmington, NC – The Wilmington City Council Tuesday night will take its first look at a comprehensive plan for future annexations.
The annexation plan is designed to give residents a long-term view of "where" and "when" the city plans to annex. The presentation will also come with a prioritized list of areas to annex.
No vote will be taken, City Council is expected to vote on a final plan next month.
Also Tuesday night, City Council will again take up an ordinance requiring Internet sweepstakes parlors to be located at least 500 feet away from schools, churches and day care facilities. It would also keep the businesses away from major gateways into the city. Wilmington has a moratorium on new sweepstakes parlors that is scheduled to end in August.
