For Now, Plenty of H1N1 Vaccine

By Laurin Penland

Wilmington, NC – Health departments across the region say they now have enough H1N1 vaccine for anyone who wants it.

The state says demand for the H1N1 vaccine has slackened, and more vaccine has flowed in from the federal government.

Janet McCumbee says the New Hanover County Health Department was receiving hundreds of vaccines from the government, now that number is in the thousands.

"Two weeks ago we might have been calling people back that were on the waiting list for a month, now we're up to calling people that were probably just put on the waiting list last week."

Pender and Brunswick Counties say they also have enough supply. But health department officials say they don't really know what to expect from the H1N1 virus for the rest of the flu season.
