Wilmington, NC – The City of Wilmington is opening all of its pools this weekend for the summer season, except one will remain closed.
The city says the Northside Pool, located in Wilmington's historic black neighborhood, will stay closed this summer due to budget cuts.
The city says attendance was lowest at the pool, and it generated the least amount of money
The splash pad next to the pool is already open for play. No lifeguards are needed at the splash pad, so the city says it will not have to pay for staff.
Across town, both the Robert Strange Pool on 10th street near downtown Wilmington and the pool at Legion Stadium open May 23rd.
City pools cost $1 for kids, $2 for adults. The Northside splash pad is the only one in town - and it's free.
