Wilmington, NC – Democratic candidate Vernon Ward and republican incumbent Bonner Stiller are both vying for the 17th House district seat.
When asked if film incentives should be made permanent, incumbent Stiller says he only agrees with extending them.
"You don't want to make something like that permanent because there may be a good time to say 'I'm sorry, but we can't continue to do that.' But I would be more than willing to continue to do incentives. When these film companies come in to make a movie, they bring a lot of money to the community."
Democratic candidate Ward says he isn't a fan of any tax incentives.
"I'm not a big advocate of incentives because that's just another way of spending money from tax payers that a lot of people question whether we have or not."
Ward has a degree in business administration from UNC Chapel Hill and Stiller has a law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law.
