Wilmington, NC – Tropical Storm Cristobal left behind some much needed rain and is expected to create choppy conditions along the coast.
Tropical Storm Cristobal dumped five inches of rain on some parts of the region as it made its way along the coast.
National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Pfaff says much of the storm's winds were felt out in the ocean, leaving a chance of rip currents closer to shore.
"Once the storm goes by and the winds turns offshore that will knock down a lot of the waves coming into the beaches and that should minimize the rip current effect."
Pfaff says Tropical Storm Cristobal's quick formation off the coast left little time for public notice.
Cristobal is the first storm to hit the region this hurricane season.
