Wilmington, NC – Titan officials pulled out of a forum meeting late last Friday, citing concerns with the meeting's security and format. The meeting has been planned for weeks. It was to provide a forum for community members to engage Titan officials with their questions and concerns for the cement plant planned for Castle-Hayne. Star-News organized the forum, and the paper's Executive Editor Tim Griggs says the cancellation is a loss to all those interested in how the cement plant will impact the region.
"They want to know their questions are being heard and I think they want answers, and I think that's true for both those who support titan and those who don't. I think any chance we get as community to answer those questions is the right thing to do."
Griggs says he will work to reschedule the meeting. A different meeting planned for Tuesday night with Titan officials and the Army Corps of Engineers is planned to go ahead as scheduled.
