Wilmington, NC – The Wilmington Housing Authority and the University of North Carolina, Wilmington are joining forces to help residents living in public housing.
UNCW will take over the community center at Hillcrest to help anyone in public housing with dietary, computer or schoolwork needs. Wilmington Housing Authority Chair Bo Dean.
"So we want to make sure the university, as they're doing their research, as they're doing their surveys, and they're doing the things that they do best, are also able to do their outreach and be able to do it in the community."
Dean says the Housing Authority also donated $10,000 to establish a UNCW scholarship for students living in public or section eight housing. The Housing Authority already offers a scholarship to Cape Fear Community College.
