Wilmington, NC – South Carolina Division of Motor Vehicle offices will be closed Friday and Saturday in observance of Confederate Memorial Day.
It's a day recognized across the south as a time to remember those who died fighting for the Confederacy in the Civil War.
Different states celebrate it on different days.
Both North and South Carolina observe Confederate Memorial Day on May 10th, the day confederate general Stonewall Jackson died and the day Confederate President Jefferson Davis was captured in Georgia.
