WAVE Gets Input on Satellite Hubs

By Megan V. Williams

Wilmington, NC – New Hanover County buses may use very different transfer points in the near future, and officials are seeking the public's input on where those should be.

As a part of the on-going overhaul of its bus routes, WAVE Transit is creating three so-called 'satellite hubs' - transfer locations among different bus lines. The system has already decided to place the hubs in Monkey Junction and near the intersections of Independence Boulevard and Oleander Drive, and Eastwood and Military Cutoff Roads.

Tonight, officials with the Metropolitan Transit Organization hold a drop-in public information session from 6 to 8pm at Thalian Hall to hear thoughts on exactly where those hubs should be.

WAVE Transit is already in the process of shifting its primary transfer point to a major new station on North College Road.

What: Informational meeting about proposed WAVE satellite hubs. Drop-in format.

Where: Thalian Hall, City Council chambers

When: 6:00 to 8:00pm
