Friday Feedback for November 1, 2013

We were contacted by a number of listeners regarding signal problems on the air which began last Saturday morning. We were able to fix the problems for a few days, but they returned on Wednesday. Thanks to George Scheibner and our consulting engineer Jobie Sprinkle in Charlotte, who worked to isolate and solve the problems. We have been posting updates on our web page, on Facebook and via email during this effort. I also wrote about it Saturday morning to listener Amy, who wrote back:

Thanks for your response!! If it were a record player, I could have just smacked on the side to clear the hiccup!

Several listeners replied to an email I sent to our entire mailing list yesterday morning. Listener Heidi wrote:

Thanks for the info, hope it's fixed, have a great day.

Listener Marvin wrote on Halloween (yesterday),

Tis the time for goblins & gremlins, after all!

Listener Steve wrote:

I heard the problem this AM and could easily follow the news, but again I appreciate the courteous and timely update.

Our pal Andy Wood wrote:

We are on the road and enjoying WHQR’s Halloween music by way of the internet.

Thank you to everyone who contacted us about the problems. If you’d like to be on our email mailing list, send us your email at whqr@whqr.org. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience, but this one has been a real stumper.

[AUDIO CLIP] Since you played a Carter Pann composition and gave someone else the credit last week in error, will you please play another around the early hour? I am his great aunt Marjorie and Carter Pann is a beautiful man inside and out. Thank you.

To clarify, due to a labeling error on the CD, we announced that the work we were going to play was by Meira Warshauer – but it was by Carter Pann instead. We did give him the credit at the end of the work.

RagingSteveK wrote on whqr.org:

I'm a casual radio listener, often with competing interests at common times (it IS football season, after all); every time I catch FreshAir, or All Things considered (and locally produced Front Street Blues, etc), I'm asking myself: why aren't I doing this more often!

Listener Jim wrote:

I know I am listening to the right station in Wilmington when I hear Richard Thompson; And Lou Reed doing a studio version of Rock n Roll. (I've only heard the live version on the 1973 Animal). George Scheibner is the best DJ in town! Thanks !

Listener Pamela, who recently won some tickets, wrote:

Thanks for the Malpass Bros tickets last week. They were awesome. You're the best.

We're glad you enjoyed them, Pamela. Our friends in the folk group Stray Local also attended and said it was great. For a little more old-timey music from the MC Erny Gallery, check out a post with two songs from last week’s Soup to Nuts Live broadcast. We have a link on the Friday Feedback web page:

We’d love to hear from you on Friday Feedback. You can always leave a message via email to feedback@WHQR.org. Our Feedback Phone is 910-292-WHQR. That’s 292-9477. And thanks for your feedback.
