Between 1938 until the outbreak of World War II, nearly 10,000 Jewish children were taken from their families in Nazi-occupied Germany and sent to live with foster families in Britain. Nine-year-old Eva is taken from her home in Germany and sent to Manchester to live with the Miller family. Young Eva must learn to survive with her new family and new identity amidst the war. The audience witnesses the impact of Eva’s traumatic past and how it affects generations to come.

UNCW’s production will feature Alex Sargent ‘22 as Lighting Designer. Alex is a Technical Theatre major, and he’s excited to be working on his third production as a lighting designer. Alessandra Mantovani ‘23 will be the Costume Designer for this show. This production will also feature Eve Wengel as Eva and Oliwia Fudala as the Accent Coach. Eve and Oliwia are international students through the Theatre Department’s student exchange program with Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance in London’s International Drama School. UNCW’s Department of Theatre has partnered with Rose Bruford for many years and is happy to be able to continue this connection this semester.

Kindertransport will run at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Performances are September 29th – October 2nd and October 6th – 9th in the Mainstage Theatre at the UNCW Cultural Arts Building.

Tickets are $15 for members of the general public, $12 for seniors, UNCW employees, and alumni, and $6 for students (sales tax included.) Parking is free for theatre patrons in the pay station spaces in front of the Cultural Arts Building (CAB) lot (lot Q), in gated lot Q and across the street from the CAB in Randal Drive lot (lot I) after 5 pm Monday - Friday and all-day Saturday and Sunday.
