Learn about Abraham Galloway (1837-1870)- a formerly enslaved person from Southport, NC., Galloway escaped to Canada and moved back to North Carolina to become a State Senator. He was a Union Soldier and Spy, Abolitionist, and Elected Representative in his short life of 33 years. This talk will explore Mr. Galloway's life and accomplishments
About the Speaker: Les Hewlett is a new member of the Brunswick County African American Heritage Commission, and a member of the Senior Men's Club. As a life-long lover of history he recently welcomed the challenge of writing a series of short stories detailing the lives of local African American figures.
