The Burgwin-Wright House welcomes BJ Grimmer on July 23 for her show “Land, Sea, Sky.” Her show will be on exhibit until August 21 in the art gallery located in the museum visitor center. Opening Reception is on Friday, July 23 from 6-9pm. Admission is free to the gallery, which is open Monday-Saturday between 10am-4pm. BJ has been making art for many years, between teaching in schools and studying extensively with master painters. She works in oil, oil pastel, and her current medium of favor-acrylic. She paints using her own photographs for reference and plein air. Nature is the primary influence in her work, not in an attempt to duplicate but to initiate a response as a painting that reflects the joy of the outdoors. Her love of painting is paired with her love of travel, especially in the west and internationally. Since relocating to Wilmington in 2018 she’s been involved as a member of WAA and the Cape Fear Sketchers group. BJ has had solo shows in Iowa City and Mount Pleasant and shown in many galleries throughout Iowa and the Midwest.
