Artist Fritzi Huber will lead art activities inspired by our current exhibition Pinkie’s Memories, and the Day of the Dead/Dia De Los Muertos. Children and families will create tissue paper marigolds, dead bread (remembrance sculptures made of pre-made pay dough), and draw portraits of a person or pet you miss on blank paper picture frames. (Feel free to bring photographs of your loved ones to sketch from.) We will use these art pieces to decorate a small ofrenda that will remain on display in the reception hall through October 31st. Spend the morning celebrating your memories in creative, beautiful ways. As a part of the NEA Big Read, there will be readings of Hairs/Pelitos by Sandra Cisneros throughout the event. Every child will get their OWN copy of Hairs/Pelitos to keep! This opportunity is offered in partnership with UNCW's Office of the Arts. Registration includes free admission to explore CAM’s current exhibitions. Kids @ CAM is fun for the whole family, and parental supervision is required at all times.
