250th Anniversary of the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge
On Friday February 27 and Saturday February 28, Moores Creek National Battlefield will be commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge. The event runs from 10 am until 4 pm both days. Park staff, park partners, volunteers, and other living historians will be offering a variety of programs and demonstrations throughout the event.
The event will begin with a Wreath Laying Ceremony at 10:00 am on Friday the 27th. Demonstrations and programs will include battle commemoration programs at 1 pm and 3:30 pm on Friday the 27th and 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm on Saturday the 27th. In addition, performances by the Tryon Palace Fife and Drum Corps, Wilmington Police Pipes and Drums, Annandale School and the Second Division Marine Band will take place on Saturday Feb. 28. The winners of the Freedom Art Show will be announced at 11 am on Saturday the 28th. In addition, visitors will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of hands-on demonstrations such as, barrel making, candle making, blacksmithing, corn husk doll making, Loyalist and Patriot programs, guest speakers, guided tours, and more!
Parking for the event will be mostly offsite, but complimentary shuttles will be running consistently on both Friday and Saturday. Signs will be posted along Route 210 with directions showing which parking lots are currently being used. Additionally, food trucks will be onsite both Friday and Saturday offering food for purchase.
