Prologue: "Side Effects" by Myrna Brown - New Meeting Time - NOON

Monday, February 12th

PROLOGUE MOVES TO NOON!!!

The MC Erny Gallery

On Monday, February 12th, at NOON (Note Time Change) in the MC Erny Gallery, we will sit down to discuss Side Effects with the author, Myrna Brown, and Ben Steelman of Wilmington's StarNews

About the Author

Born in the Pacific Northwest, Myrna Brown has been a writer in various capacities her entire life - writing and editing for a local newspaper, the Satellite Control Facility in Sunnyvale California, and at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. just to name a few. After becoming a nurse at age 50, eventually ended her nursing career to move to Wilmington, North Carolina with her husband upon his retirement. Many of her characters’ experiences relate back to her time in the Northwest. Side Effects is her third novel.

About the Book

Sophie, a young wife, experiences a breakdown. She is hospitalized and isolated. Before she can recuperate fully, she must feel forgiven for a misdeed in her childhood. She covets that forgiveness, especially from her father. By telling her story to Abe, the nurse practitioner, she finds a way to a new inner freedom. Her relationship with her father is restored, and the reader comes to understand how the story of her childhood affects her ability to choose for herself and find peace and fulfillment. While emotionally gripping, the author leaves the reader with a sense of the realities in life we all face: loss, grief and sometimes mistreatment.
