Cripple Creek Cloggers
Jason Aycock onstage

Don't jump-the first sound you'll hear in this interview is Jason Aycock's tennis shoes pounding on the floor of the MC Erny Gallery at WHQR. Aycock joined us to talk about an upcoming performance of Cripple Creek Cloggers, and he was kind enough to share a clogging lesson while he was here.

Cripple Creek Cloggers have been around for nearly 35 years-the group was formed by Aycock's parents in 1982. In addition to recreational lessons for youth and adults at Cripple Creek Corner, the performance team presents traditional and contemporary clogging shows and competes with other teams, winning 5 National Championships. Folkstone Stringbandwill join the group on Saturday night at Thalian Hall for the traditional part of the show; listen to Aycock talk about the roots of this folk dance and how it continues to evolve above.

Cripple Creek Cloggers presents "Appalachian Spring," traditional and contemporary clogging show with Folkstone Stringband for the traditional part. Saturday, November 19 at Thalian Hall. Showtime is 7:30pm.

Aycock also talked about clogging shoes-listen to this Web Extra to hear about how they developed over time:

Clogging shoes aren't just "clogs," nor are they tap shoes. Hear Jason Aycock talk about how this footwear was developed.
