Communique: 8th Annual Port City Music Festival Runs Through June 12

2016 Festival art by Christine Farley

The Port City Music Festival is back again for its 8th season in Wilmington.  Festival organizers, Christine Farley and Lynn Herndon, joined us to talk about what's in store this year. While there is a definite focus on Mozart, works by Grieg, Schubert, Tavener, Messiaen, and others are included.  The Festival runs Sunday, June 5-Sunday, June 12.

There are more venues this year than ever: Cameron Art Museum, Beckwith Recital Hall, Kenan Chapel, B'nai Israel Synogogue, Dreams Garage, First Presbyterian, and Windermere Presbyterian.

This year, dance is included in 2 performances, plus a student performance masterclass. While all performances are free, tickets are required for Kenan Chapel because of the small size of the venue; these are available at the Northeast Library (no charge).  Find a list of all performances, venues, and performers here + artist profiles.

Listen to Christine and Lynn talk about this year's Festival above-including how they continue to make performances by world-class musicians accessible to the Port City year after year.
