Barbara McKenzie, the Artistic Director of Chamber Music Wilmington (CMW), joined us along with outgoing president Pat Marriott to announce the performers CMW is bringing to Wilmington over the next several months.

McKenzie and Marriott are clearly excited about the upcoming 2015-16 season, "Simply Classical," featuring a focus on string quartets. All performances will be at 7:30 on Sundays at Beckwith Recital Hall at UNCW. ItzakPerlman's prodigy, the Ariel Quartet from Isreal opens the season on Sunday, September 27. Featured music is Beethoven's "resurrection" quartet, Israeli folk music and quartet movement from Schubert.
The Calidore Quartet was born in 2010 at the Colburn Conservatory of music. The group has won nearly all the chamber music quartet competitions in the United States over the past 2 years. Calidore is performing on Sunday, January 2.
An exception to the string focus this season, Magnolia Baroque performs on period instruments, including a Baroque trumpet and viola dagambas. This group from the Mother Moravian Church Baroque Music Festival will perform an all Bach concert including Cantata no. 51, Jauchzet Gott Im Allen Landern. Performance on Sunday, February 28.
Closing out the season on Sunday, April 10, the award-winning Enso Quartet brings Beethoven's Harp quartet from the middle period and Ginastera's 2nd quartet.
