The Partnership Advisory Group – the committee exploring the future of New Hanover Regional Medical Center – held its first meeting of 2020 on Jan. 9. Since October, the group chartered by the County has been considering whether the hospital should remain independent, be sold or enter a partnership with another health system. The PAG has finished its Request For Proposals and is now moving forward.
The Partnership Advisory Group has entered a new phase. With the Request for Proposal or R-F-P document approved, it now goes to the 15 to 20 healthcare organizations that have expressed interest. The RFP will be posted online and other interested organizations can also submit proposals until early March. Interested parties so far include Novant Health, Duke Health and HCA Healthcare.
Dr. Joseph Pino is with the advisory group.
“There's also been discussion that when we reach that point where the number of potential respondents that are being considered are winnowed down, that we would visit those locations to speak to people who are on the ground to hear directly about the healthcare system and take information from that.”
The Advisory Group’s next meeting is Thursday, January 23rd at Government Center. Vince Winkel, WHQR News.
