This broadcast of CoastLine originally aired on November 5, 2014.

Republicans effectively walloped Democrats in these mid-term electionssweeping into power with a majority in both Chambers on Capitol Hill.

At the state and local levels, election results generally mirrored the national pattern.

Voter turnout in North Carolina was impressive this election cycle.  In fact, with Early Voting shortened by a week, voters still set a record for turnout in mid-term elections.  And last night, the State Board of Elections announced a new record for overall turnout in the state for a midterm election.   Nearly 44% of registered voters cast ballots.

On this edition of CoastLine, we explore likely policy changes, whether gridlock will continue, and the impact of local elections on southeastern North Carolina.
