Biggest Heroin Bust in NHCo. Sheriff's History

New Hanover County Sheriff's Office

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office announced the largest heroin bust in the agency’s history.

WHQR’s Sara Wood reports two suspects have been detained after a month-long investigation that spans two counties.

On Wednesday, detectives seized 300 bags of heroin worth more than $9,000 from the Ogden home of Tierre Henderson. The record-breaking amount was found later as Henderson led investigators to the Onslow County residence of his girlfriend Chrissy Sinclair. Sergeant Jerry Brewer says detectives confiscated 5.5 ounces of pure uncut heroin, an amount that would have yielded 15,000 bags selling for around $25 to $30 each.

“That’s a lot of heroin, a lot of lives that are going to be saved due to the fact that that drug is off the street now.”

Both Henderson and Sinclair are being held at the New Hanover County Detention Center. Henderson is being charged on 24 counts and held on a $2.5 million bond. Sinclair is being held on a $1 million bond and is being charged for eight counts.

“Heroin has become a front runner with the drugs on the streets that we deal with.  It is mainly fueled by the desire for money, so we see a lot of heroin and this is a great bust for us as well as the citizens for New Hanover County.”
