Puffy Says
Linda Wertheimer speaks with Philip Delves-Broughton, N.Y. bureau chief of the Daily Telegraph, who is covering the trial of rap singer Puffy Combs. Combs is on trial for weapons possession and bribery charges. He testified in his own defense today. Delves-Broughton says that Combs denied the charges, and was very composed under cross-examination, making for an impressive witness. He also says Combs has been dressing conservatively, more like a banker than a rap star.

With the help of writers Philip Roth and William Styron, DONGALA now has a visiting professorship in chemistry at Simons Rock of Bard College in Massachusetts. DONGALA is also president of the Congolese PEN Centre.
Iraq Contracting Payoffs Include Gifts and Money
The payoffs at the heart of reconstruction fraud in Iraq apparently come in many forms. Documents in the case of Robert Stein, a former Defense Department employee for the Coalition Provisional Authority, show that payoffs can include watches, cars, planes and, of course, cash.

For Afghan Fighter the War Continues as Loyalties Shift
A former Afghan warlord was sentenced in a London court this week to 20 years in prison for torture and hostage-taking in Afghanistan. The trial coincided with appeals from human rights groups for many more of Afghanistan's warlords -- including those now in government -- to be called to account for crimes committed during that period. There are many such men who are still fighting.

Crusading for the Yamuna's Future
Before the Yamuna enters Delhi, the river looks relatively clean. This is in stark contrast with what it looks like as soon as it enters the city. Most citizens don't care, but one man is taking up the cause.
