Polls open tomorrow, November 3rd, Election Day, at 6:30 AM and close at 7:30 PM. WHQR takes a look at what you need to know if you haven’t yet voted.
The seventeen days of early voting are finished and tomorrow, voters must go to their assigned polling place.
New Hanover County Board of Elections Director Rae Hunter-Havens says a few polling places have changed due to Covid-19, so voters might want to check before heading to the polls.
“And so voters can go to our website at nhcvote.com and look in the voting and registration information section and find some information about those polling place changes. They can also use the voter tool lookup function on the NC State Board of Elections website.”
If voters want to drop off their absentee ballot at the Board of Elections Office, they must do so by tomorrow at 5 PM. And according to a court ruling, mail-in ballots postmarked by November 3rd will be counted as long as they are received by 5 PM on November 12th.
Hunter-Havens also says if residents want to avoid some of the long lines on Election Day to vote before 10 AM or after 2 PM. Unfortunately, she says, the estimated wait time portal, available during the early voting period, will not be in use.
If a voter has any problems tomorrow, here’s her advice:
“They can certainly ask for the Chief Judge at the polling place, no voters should be turned away from a polling place. If they’re continuing to struggle or they’re not sure what they should do, just call our office - 910-798-7330.”
Voters do not have to show ID in this election. And as long as you’re in line by 7:30 PM, your vote will count.
Election results for both New Hanover County and the state will be official on Friday, November 13th at 11 AM.
