Wilmington City Council Member Paul Lawler is running to win a second term. One of his priorities: how the City can recruit more high-paying jobs to the area. And he’d like to see public transportation in the region improve and grow.
Paul Lawler wants to keep building the business community in Wilmington. But he says that means a lot more than recruiting, and bringing new companies to town.
“When I talk about economic development, I want to look at other kinds of economic development besides recruiting. You know our great new businesses in the area like Live Oak Bank, the whole contract research organization group. Even right next door, there's a company that came out of TekMountain and has opened up what they call knowledge sector companies. I think we have great potential for that, because those companies need to have skilled workers”
Lawler also wants to see WAVE and public transportation in Wilmington expand, and serve more of the public while easing traffic congestion.
