Governor Wants Everyone Informed

Hurricane Dorian is slowly closing in on the Cape Fear region. It’s expected to reach here this sometime evening, as conditions deteriorate.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper told the public today to stay informed, and warned residents to stay off the roads and in a safe place.

“We have more than 50 shelters open today in our state and more than a thousand people are already using them. We have 45 school districts that are closed today and five more that are on early release. We appreciate the media for getting information out to people and it is important for everyone to have reliable sources of information.”

That’s Gov. Cooper speaking from Raleigh today.
