09-29-10 – All 8 candidates for the New Hanover County Board of Education participated in a candidate forum held in the WHQR gallery. The event was a joint effort among the Cape Fear Economic Development Council, the Star News, the Wilmington Business Journal, and WHQR.
The candidates for New Hanover County Board of Education include: Janice Cavenaugh, Don Hayes, Derrick Hickey, Ed Higgins, Joyce Huguelet, Nick Rhodes, Philip Stine, and Clancy Thompson.
One of our live audience members asked each candidate to talk about how teachers could design one classroom to meet the varying needs of students if the county were to bus for socioeconomic considerations.
