09-28-10 – All 8 candidates for the New Hanover County Board of Education participated in a candidate forum held in the WHQR gallery. The event was a joint effort among the Cape Fear Economic Development Council, the Star News, the Wilmington Business Journal, and WHQR.
This question was posed to the candidates by Greater Wilmington Business Journal Editor Chris Wilkerson: "The business community watches the school system's progress not just as parents, but as a resource for economic development. What can the business community do to help the school system prepare the next generation's workforce?"
The candidates for New Hanover County Board of Education include: Janice Cavenaugh, Don Hayes, Derrick Hickey, Ed Higgins, Joyce Huguelet, Nick Rhodes, Philip Stine, and Clancy Thompson.
