Wilmington, NC – Congressman Mike McIntyre says he did not take part in a special prayer event featuring members of Congress praying against the passage of the health care bill.
The Family Research Council held the webcast prayer event last year. And near the beginning McIntyre appears in a taped segment discussing the power of prayer. News blog Talking Points Memo reported on the prayer event, singling out McIntyre as the only democrat participating.
McIntyre says his statements about the Congressional Prayer Caucus were in appropriately used and he had nothing to do with the event.
"In the Congressional Prayer Caucus we do not ever discuss issues. And I was disappointed that someone had taken that video that I did on prayer and the importance of prayer and try to tag it to a specific issue."
McIntyre voted against the House health care bill, saying it was too expensive and failed to bring down health care costs.
