Fayetteville Contractors Held in Iraq

By Catherine M. Welch

Wilmington, NC – A North Carolina contracting company says it doesn't know why Iraqi police are holding its founder and four employees at a police station inside the Green Zone.

The five contractors are being held as part of an investigation into the death of American Jim Kitterman, a construction contractor from Houston. Kitterman's body was found in a car in the Green Zone.

Don Feeney Jr. founded Corporate Training Unlimited. Company spokeswoman Sarah Smith says they are not sure how Feeney and the other's are connected with the murder, but they are cooperating.

"Fully cooperating with the investigation, with both Iraqi and American authorities. They're interested in finding out who killed their friend Jim Kitterman."

Smith says the company fully expects all five contractors to be released soon. The Green Zone is controlled by Iraq, which now has the authority to take Americans into custody.
