Wilmington, NC – After 89 years of doing business in downtown Wilmington, Kingoff's Jewelers is moving on.
Owner Michael Kingoff says he's found that customers in Wilmington tend to shop where they live, so he's moving his downtown store to the Hanover Center off Oleander Drive and Independence Boulevard.
Kingoff says he'll miss the downtown shop where his father worked for nearly 60 years.
"When I worked at that store I felt like I kept more in touch with what was going on in my city, in my community. My dad had a saying that he coined that a city without a downtown is a city without a heart."
Kingoff says the downtown store will probably close in August and the new location will open in October.
