Wilmington, NC – Tropical Storm Hanna will be moving into the area Friday with rains likely starting at the beaches just after noon and winds starting to pick up around 4:00pm.

At a meeting Thursday afternoon, New Hanover County emergency management director Warren Lee told city and county officials that forecasters are expecting 4 to 6 inches of rain, but the usual flooding of area rivers is unlikely since Hanna will be a fast moving storm.

Hanna will be making landfall at high tide, causing concern for beach errosion.

Lee says forecasters are also keeping an eye out for tornadoes as Hanna passes through the region.
