Wilmington, NC – EUE Screen Gems Studio in Wilmington is building a massive soundstage on its back lot.
The movie studio says it studied the film industry and realized that blockbuster films with eye-popping effects were the future of film.
So it's aiming to cash in on the trend with what the head of Screen Gems Studio, Bill Vassar, calls a dream stage.
He says this new soundstage will also have the largest and deepest indoor production tank in North America.
"We're banking on the fact that you'll see a whole new level of film productions with larger budgets come to Wilmington and to the state of North Carolina."
Vassar wouldn't put a price tag on the dream stage, but did say it was being paid for with private funds.
Construction on the new soundstage is scheduled to wrap up in the spring of next year.
