Multi-vehicle pileup closes portion of I-85 in Kannapolis

Interstate 85 in Kannapolis is closed due to a pileup.

UPDATE: The northbound lanes of I-85 between mile markers 60-63 have reopened in Cabarrus County, reports North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Interstate 85 is closed between Dale Earnhardt Boulevard at Exit 60 and Exit 63 because of a multi-vehicle pileup blamed on weather conditions. The City of Kannapolis said dozens of vehicles and more than two dozen tractor-trailers are stuck on the interstate. Officials said the National Guard and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol are responding.
