Wilmington, NC – The works of Italian composer and filmmaker Stephano Giannotti rest at an intriguing intersection of sound and sight, where images lead to music and music can just as often inspire the visuals.

The movie he brings to this year's Cucalorus, Chiayi Symphony, captures life in rural Taiwan through a blend of highly produced audio and intriguing images. It's a wordless documentary, or perhaps a visual overture.

The project started when Giannotti arrived as a visiting artist in the province of Chiayi with a camera, a tape recorder, a few notebooks, and little idea of what to do there...
