Wilmington, NC – Wilmington's Good Shepherd Ministries says its food pantry is getting bare.
Executive Director Katrina Knight says the supply usually gets thin around October, but a growing demand along with the newly added dinner meal has caused the agency to run low earlier.
She says short supplies hit all food agencies in the summer when people are on vacation and out of their usual routines.
They may not be going to their regular congregation, kids are not in school. They're not engaging as much in groups through which they might be volunteering or collecting for groups such as Good Shepherd.
Knight says the agency needs canned vegetables. Good Shepherd Ministries serves roughly 200 lunches and 100 dinners each day.
