CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Updates, resources, and context

Congratulations, Rachel Lewis Hilburn: 2021 Women of Achievement Awards

YWCA's 35th Annual Women of Achievement Awards took place last week and Rachel Lewis Hilburn was recognized as the winner of the 2021 Business Award.

The Women of Achievement Awards is the YWCA Lower Cape Fear's signature fundraiser to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of women and young leaders in our community.

In his introduction of Rachel, Station Manager Kurt Wilson said, "Her friends and colleagues at WHQR are proud of her accomplishments. Rachel's been a key figure in Wilmington to provide ongoing programs that highlight the reality of Wilmington's racially divisive history and shows us the impact of this history on our lives today."

When asked what being a Woman of Achievement meant to her, Rachel replied, "Being a Woman of Achievement means that there are people in this community who care about breaking down artificial barriers that exist between us...It means that people care more about coming together than about building up divisions."

Mary Bradley moved to Wilmington from Los Angeles, CA in May 2007 with her husband Frank and twin baby daughters, Maggie and Kate. In California, Mary had been Drive Director and the producer of Elvis Mitchell's nationally syndicated public radio interview program "The Treatment" for public radio station KCRW for ten years. Mary was raised in Rhode Island and graduated from Boston University. Mary recently served as President of the Board of Directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Cape Fear Chapter.
