House speaks about his family’s involvement with the German SS: “My grandfather (a dentist) was part of the SS, because if he didn’t, they were going to…pretty much…shut him down.” He goes on to describe the risky situation that his grandfather found himself in, illegally protecting Jewish people during the height of German anti-Semitism.
