WHQR Announces Kurt Wilson as New Station Manager

The Friends of Public Radio, Inc. Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Kurt Wilson has accepted the position as Station Manager for WHQR News at 91.3fm and WHQR Classical music at 92.7fm.

In accepting the role, Wilson said, "I'm excited to join the great team at WHQR and to get to know the listeners and supporters of public radio in the Wilmington area."

Wilson joins WHQR from his current role as General Manager of Yellowstone Public Radio in Billings, Montana. The Yellowstone Public Radio network consists of 12 stations and 26 translators that span the state of Montana and Northern Wyoming. This past year, the station had their most successful fundraising year in the history of the station and finished the year with a budget surplus. Wilson also spent 15 years at Central Michigan Public Broadcasting in Mt Pleasant, Michigan. He held many titles at the NPR/PBS Dual Licensee including Executive Producer of Television and Director of Corporate Support and Major Gifts. Wilson spent the first ten years of his career in Utah as a member of the Utah Jazz Radio Network and as Director of Broadcast Services at Weber State University.
 
Wilson also has experience as a television sports anchor, news anchor and play by play announcer. He has also been a radio news and sports reporter and co-host of a daily radio morning show. Wilson has a Bachelor of Applied Arts from Central Michigan University.

Mary Bradley moved to Wilmington from Los Angeles, CA in May 2007 with her husband Frank and twin baby daughters, Maggie and Kate. In California, Mary had been Drive Director and the producer of Elvis Mitchell's nationally syndicated public radio interview program "The Treatment" for public radio station KCRW for ten years. Mary was raised in Rhode Island and graduated from Boston University. Mary recently served as President of the Board of Directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Cape Fear Chapter.
