City Council has a long night ahead of them this week. The consent agenda features nine resolutions to consider, and councilmembers are eager to dive in.
“I’d like to hear some discussion about how this happened, that we got through a whole season, apparently a successful season, and we didn't get paid any of the rent and what will we do to make sure that does not happen again.”
That’s Councilmember Kevin O’Grady. Wilmington Sharks Baseball, or Jawsome Entertainment LLC, is asking council to waive $15,000 in Owed Fees, with other conditions stipulated.
“I don't understand why an invoice wasn't followed up on and we didn't get paid.” [O'Grady]
Other things on the City Council’s docket? Two Zoning Amendments in the Public Hearing section. An ordinance appropriating over 1.5 million dollars to the Storm Water Management Fund. And three presentations, including an update on the Rail Realignment Project--that’s the plan to re-route and replace the current freight rail between Navassa and Wilmington, before repurposing the old route for public use.
“And with that, we stand adjourned.” [Mayor Saffo]
